NE Youth is a local charity that supports young people all across the North East of England. I’ve been very fortunate to work with them for the last 5 years on their annual report and have got to know and appreciate their work really well during this time.
We always kick off the project with an ideas session, during this years we talked a lot about the importance of the wellbeing of the young people they work with, how this can be affected by the issues they face and ways of tackling this.
This led to the inspiration for the styling of this years’ report - journaling for mindfulness and wellbeing. It’s something the charity has found really helps the young people they work with and has become very popular with them in recent years.
I used doodles, torn edges, notebook style backgrounds and handwritten typestyles to give the report a hands on feel which emphasises the partnership between them and the young people they support.
I initially worked on designs for the front cover and couple of the internal spreads, so I could check my vision for the design aligned with the charities, before completing the rest of the report.
